Living in London, I unfortunately don’t get to see them as much any more. But the good news for me (and them) (and you) is pretty much every weekend I go home they are playing another gig. Not to mention that everytime there is less standing space and more people dancing away than ever before. And it’s not just new people – there are definitely growing number of familiar faces who find their musical delights unmissable.

Keane-o?

Maybe it was the fact that it was the first gig they had played here for a while or the fact it was the first time they played their new album. Maybe it was the fact they had reached number 1 in the midweek charts that day or maybe it was the fact they were playing to a group of loving fans who had no doubt that they were going to hear something extraordinary, I don’t know. But what I do know is that their performance made me reevaluate my perceptions of Keane. Their old tracks evoked memories of past summers and old friends and their new material proved they are still legit and their performance was faultless…

Love Never Dies

On Thursday I had the pleasure of going to see ‘Love Never Dies’ at the Adelphi Theatre.

The play is the sequel to ‘Phantom of the Opera’. I was concerned before we arrived at the theatre that I would not understand the plot as I never saw the first instalment. However, that was not the case at all. Having no background knowledge was zero problem – I still found the story interesting…

On saturday evening I had the delight of seeing Imogen Heap at the 02 Academy in Birmingham. In sum – fantastically English, über talented, stunning stage prescenetopped off with a big dose of fun sprinkled on top.

Skint?

I present to you ‘The Skints’ – young yet extremely talented ska band (whom we all agreed some of the best since the likes of Sublime or The Specials). Think amazingly gritty vocals, tuneful flute and saxophone overtones and a bass line and rhythm that makes it impossible to keep still.
