I hate waking to the laundrette. I have to carry my body weight in wet washing because although our little studio features a washing machine it is lacking a tumble drier and trying to hang anything up means you cant stand up or sit down – let alone move!
The moment I get outside the heavens seem to open – like they’ve been waiting until that very moment. But it’s totally worth the traipse. It makes me smile and it makes me über happy. Every time. I like the retro feel to it. I can loose myself in a book or in a world of music. I am able to sit down and do what I don’t normally have chance to. I can completely zone out. AND IT SMELLS SO GOOD.
Sat with my back against the warm tumble drier for that half an hour in my own little world. It’s heavenly. Then when the washing is done I can give it a big hug and let the clean washing smell and warmth penetrate my soul. Then I can skip home with a spring in my step ( and not just because the washing is much lighter) without even caring if it’s still raining, because I feel like I’m in a sun Disney film, safe within the knowledge I will sleep soundly in my freshly washed sheets. And that is one of my favouritest things in the whole wide world.
